Child Found in Gwinnett

Published Feb. 4, 2010 at 9:57 p.m.
685534-child-found-in-gwinnett (WSB Radio) -- Christian Guevera, 4, kidnapped from his Austell home Thursday morning has been found, apparently safe and sound, in an apartment complex in Norcross.

Gwinnett County SWAT officers with assistance from the US Marshals service located Guevera at the Madison Ridge Apartments on Indian Trail Road in Norcross sometime after 4pm.

Cobb Police Sgt. Dana Pierce says the boy will be taken to the hospital to make sure he's okay before he's reunited with his family.

"Several people are being detained," Pierce said.  "They will be brought to the Cobb Police headquarters for questioning.  We expect that charges will be filed later tonight," he added.

Just after 9:00 a.m. Thursday morning, two men confronted Guevera's mother outside their trailer in The Village Mobile Home Park in Austell.

A Levi's Call went out shortly after the boy's abduction, and police across the metro Atlanta area fanned out searching for a white SUV, possibly a Chevrolet Suburban.

Officials with the US Marshals service tell News/Talk 750 WSB that they knew all along this search would lead investigators to Gwinnett County.

Earlier in the day, the boy's grandfather told reporters that the alleged kidnappers demanded $100,000 before the tied up the boy's mother and sped away.
