UGA Considers Rescinding Offers

Published March 2, 2010 at 11:06 a.m.

(WSB Radio)  There may soon be a lot of disappointed high school students across the state.

The University of Georgia is considering rescinding admission to 500 freshman who have already been offered a slot in the upcoming class.

It's one of the ways UGA may have to cut $60 million out of its budget.

Other proposals include turning away a thousand transfer students and eliminating entire departments.

Nothing is final, but the university system has been told to cut $300 million in operating expenses in the upcoming fiscal year.
