Ga. Tech Students Carjacked

(WSB Radio) -- The carjacking and armed robbery of two Georgia Tech students prompts the school's police department to issue its third crime alert this week.

An armed black man approached a male student on Lynch Street and demanded the keys to his car early Friday, according to investigators. As the victim walked from the crime scene in the Home Park neighborhood, another armed black man confronted the student and his roommate and stole their wallets.

The stolen car is described as a gold four door Honda Civic with Georgia tag 8969-ARX. The vehicle was last seen heading south on Center Street.

Atlanta police are now trying to determine if one of the carjacking suspects was shot and killed by an officer in south Fulton County.

WSB's Richard Sangster reports the shooting happened aropund 5 a.m. in the 4500 blockof Washington Road, at the enterance to the Vesta Gardens Apartments.

Two other people were taken into custody.

On Wednesday afternoon, four Tech students were the victims of a home invasion on Hemphill Avenue in Home Park.

Early Tuesday morning, a female student was robbed as she walked from the Tech library on Ferst Drive.
