Keywords:(WSB Radio) -- Crews are trying to repair the damage from a water main break on Piedmont Road in Buckhead, but it will likely be sometime Wednesday before the road is completely reopened.
Department of Watershed Management spokeswoman Janet Ward told WSB the break in the 16-inch pipe, between Pharr Road and East Wesley, occurred late Monday night.
Ward said the extent of the damage is not yet known because water is still being pumped out and a portion of a sidewalk had collapsed.
The situation is impacting traffic through the area.
"This main has given us problems before," said Ward, adding that the pipe was installed in 1960.
Mike Maniaci of Peachtree Mortgage at 2900 Piedmont Road told the Atlanta Journal Constitution that his office is "about 3 feet under water" in the basement where computers, furniture and air-conditioning equipment were located. He was pumping water out of the office Tuesday morning with a pump he rented at Home Depot.
