Child, Woman Killed, 5 Hurt in Jefferson Fire

(WSB Radio) -- A 9-year old child and a 30-year old woman were killed and five people were injured in an early morning house fire in Jefferson.

Glenn Allen with the state insurance commissioners office said they do not know the cause of the fire, but arson investigators are on the scene.

The fire started around 3 a.m. Saturday at 785 Johnson Mill Rd. The five people injured are suffering from smoke inhalation and minor burns. The home is nearly destroyed, Allen said.

Authorities have not released the victims' names.
